What type of XRF for RoHS-WEEE compliance testing?
XRF instruments appropriate for RoHS analysis and screening come in three principle configurations: handheld; micro-spot and bulk XRF. Each configuration has unique advantages for certain types of measurements described below. Oxford Instruments is the only company which supplies all three configurations. Thus, only Oxford Instruments is capable of filling all of your RoHS analysis and screening needs.
For a guide to instrument selection, please see the Selection Guide.
Hand-held XRF - X-MET5000 and X-MET5100
Bring the analyzer to the test site. No limit on sample size.
Features include:
- Sort Pb-free from Pb-containing components in seconds
- Screen for Pb and Cd in plastic parts
- Convenient for supplier audits
- Requires minimal training
Micro-spot XRF - X-Strata980 and XGT1000WR*
Microspot XRF provides the capability to analyze extremely small samples or small spots on a complex sample. The instrument includes an embedded video microscope to ensure precise sample placement (pinpoint analysis). This instrument is ideal for the testing of microelectronics.
Features include:
- Measure components/features down to 50 microns in size
- Sort Pb and Pb-free components on completed PCB's
- Scan completed assemblies for Pb, Cd, Br, Hg, and Cr
- Look for contamination in multiple layers of plating and measure thickness
- Create XRF sample maps with XY stage
(*XGT1000 is distributed for Horiba in the Americas only)
